Supportive Mental Health Apps for Children, Adolescents, & Adults
I often recommend a variety of apps to support my clients and their families during our work together. The following apps are some of my favorites that can assist with practicing skills outside of therapy sessions. Most of the apps recommended are either free or a small fee.
Stop, Breathe, & Think – FREE w/ Premium Subscription Option (IOS, Android, Web). This app guides users through meditations for mindfulness and compassion.
Stop, Breathe, & Think Kids – FREE w/ Premium Subscription Option (IOS, Android, Web). This is the kid version of Stop, Breathe, & Think that offers children easy and fun ways to discover and improve their superpowers of sleep, being calm, learning to breathe or to resolve conflicts. Designed specifically for kids ages 5-10 years old.
Snap Stories about Feelings – $2.99 (IOS Only). Includes therapeutic stories and activities intended to help kids learn about and manage their own feelings.
Calm – FREE w/ Premium Subscription Option (IOS, Android, Web). This app focuses on the four key areas of meditation, breathing, sleep, and relaxation with the goal of bringing joy, clarity, and peace to your daily life.
Headspace – FREE w/ Premium Subscription Option (IOS, Android, Web). This app offers users the opportunity to practice mindfulness and meditation, which can help reduce stress and improve focus and sleep.
Moodnotes – FREE w/ Premium Subscription Option (IOS, Android, Web). This app is a thought journal and mood diary, which can be used to capture your feelings and improve thinking habits.
