What is Mental Wellness Rehabilitation?
At Resilient Child Therapy, we offer this unique specialized service to children, teens, and families looking to restore the fullest physical, mental, social, and academic functioning. The purpose of this service is to empower the client and their family to make informed positive choices and to maximize independence through the use of play and art-inspired interventions. This service also includes caregiver support, life-skills training, and case management to support the client’s self efficacy and resilience.

What is the Difference Between Therapy and Mental Wellness Rehabilitation at Resilient Child Therapy?
Differences
- Mental Wellness Rehabilitation is provided by a mental health professional that has a Master’s level degree in a counseling profession, along with specialized training and experience in case management, child and adolescent mental health, and rehabilitation support. Psychotherapy is provided by a mental health professional that has a Master’s or Doctoral level degree in a counseling profession AND board certified.
- Mental Wellness Rehabilitation is not covered under insurance like psychotherapy.
- For many, Mental Wellness Rehabilitation feels less stigmatizing and provides a proactive approach to addressing mental health needs.
- Mental Wellness Rehabilitation is skill-based coaching and support, while psychotherapy addresses the root cause of presenting issues and supports individuals and families in resolving internal difficulties and identifying solutions.
- Mental Wellness Rehabilitation is a short-term, direct, time-limited approach.

Who Is This Service For?
- Children and teens, ages 3 - 17
- Children and teens that do not have a history of psychosis, mania, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and/or suicide attempts.
- Children and teens that are not seeking services to address abuse and neglect.
- Children experiencing behavior issues, such as hyperactivity, impulsivity, oppositional defiance, anxiety, and depressed mood.
- Children and teens experiencing adjustment related issues due to new transitions, including parents’ divorce/separation, moving to a new educational or home setting, returning back to school after pandemic, loss of a loved one.
